BIOGRAPHY

When Tassilo Probst takes to the stage, he combines effortless virtuosity with a compelling musical voice. The German violinist is one of those rare musical personalities who can convey technical perfection and emotional immediacy with equal authenticity. A prize winner at prestigious competitions such as the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition and the George Enescu Violin Competition, he has performed as a soloist with internationally renowned orchestras including the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

Probst is also in high demand as a chamber musician. He enjoys active artistic collaborations with Daniel Müller-Schott, Alban Gerhardt, Danjulo Ishizaka and Kit Armstrong. He has also frequently shared a stage with pianist Lang Lang and violinist Daniel Hope, performing alongside the latter with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, among others. Hope himself describes Probst as “an outstanding young violinist and musician with great determination, a unique sound, and impressive mastery of his instrument".

Tassilo Probst has performed on all five continents — Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Australia — and the upcoming season will see him return to major stages across Europe and the USA. A significant milestone in his artistic career will be reached in the 2026/27 season, when he will become Artist in Residence at the Theater Vorpommern. He will perform as a soloist in three Philharmonic concert programmes and in a special concert at the Chorin Music Summer. In November 2026, Tassilo Probst will make his long-awaited debut with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Felix Mildenberger at the Isarphilharmonie in Munich, his hometown. Having won the Audience Award at the 2025 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, he will remain closely connected to the festival throughout the current season. He will also continue to perform recitals across Europe and the USA with his piano partners, Maxim Lando and Amadeus Wiesensee.

In addition to the aforementioned orchestras, Tassilo Probst has performed with several others in recent years, including the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic. He performed with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen at a summer concert hosted by the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, which was broadcast live on radio and television by WDR. He has performed at renowned venues such as the Frauenkirche in Dresden, the Brucknerhaus in Linz and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, as well as at major festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Enescu Festival, and Interlaken Classics in Switzerland.

His debut album, Into Madness, was recorded in 2022 as a co-production between Bayerischer Rundfunk and the Berlin Classics label. Featuring pianist Maxim Lando, it was named Best Chamber Music Recording of the Year at the International Classical Music Awards. In spring 2026, he recorded violin concertos by Korngold and Achron, as well as a piece by the Greek composer Samaras. This was performed together with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Geiss. Released by Berlin Classics under the title Another Dawn, the album received high praise from European critics. Another collaborative album with Maxim Lando, dedicated to arrangements of popular opera melodies, is set to be released on Berlin Classics in 2027.

Tassilo Probst has also received several honours outside the concert hall. In November 2025, he was awarded the Süddeutsche Zeitung’s Tassilo Culture Prize. The jury praised his "extraordinary talent as a solo violinist and his passion for making classical music accessible to all, regardless of their musical background".

Tassilo Probst completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich at the age of just 19 and subsequently pursued a Master's degree under Prof. Linus Roth at the University of Augsburg. He continues to receive further artistic guidance from Prof. Zakhar Bron at his academy in Interlaken, Switzerland.

Thanks to the generous support of a German family foundation, Tassilo Probst has been playing the 'Salabue, Castelbarco' violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini (Turin, 1776) since March 2026.
